Left with thousands in medical bills and emotional trauma, Craven Antao responded by filing a civil lawsuit in Bronx Supreme Court. She is seeking more than $3,000 for her medical expenses — and punitive damages for the assault, battery, and emotional devastation caused by the attack.
Her lawyers at the Thomas More Society say Rivers didn’t stop at physical violence. According to the legal complaint, Rivers “knowingly, willfully and maliciously continued to mock” the victim after the attack — even selling merchandise glorifying the assault. One image reportedly showed a shirt emblazoned with “BAM!” beside a cartoon fist.
Attorney Christopher Ferrara put it bluntly: “Savannah was violently assaulted for peacefully expressing her pro-life beliefs and then humiliated all over again when the attacker went online to glorify it.”
The consequences of the attack didn’t end with the injuries. Craven Antao now suffers from PTSD and receives a flood of death threats online. She told Fox News Digital she constantly has to “look over her shoulder” because Bragg allowed the assailant to slip away unpunished.
And she isn’t mincing words about who she blames.
“What the DA Alvin Bragg himself has shown to people, with letting this case be dropped, is that they can go assault somebody and hurt them if they disagree with them and nothing is going to happen,” she told Fox.
Bragg’s office later issued a half-hearted apology, describing the failure as an “unacceptable error.” But that apology came only after national backlash — and only after his team ignored communications from Craven Antao’s attorneys, downgraded the charges, and failed to meet the discovery deadline that ultimately killed the case.
This wasn’t incompetence. Critics say it fits a pattern.
Bragg has spent years cutting breaks for violent offenders while aggressively pursuing political cases against conservatives. His office:
- let violent repeat offenders walk with “slap on the wrist” deals
- dropped charges against rioters who hurled Molotov cocktails at police
- dismissed cases against pro-Palestinian agitators who forced their way into Columbia University
But when it came to Donald Trump, Bragg suddenly became obsessed with paperwork technicalities and “justice.”
Craven Antao said her fear intensified after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in September. She told Fox News:
“If they could do it to somebody like him, who has the resources to have the security and the checks and all the people surrounding him, what does this say for just average journalists who don’t have the means to hire a whole security team and be armed?”
Data backs up her fears. For the first time in 30 years, left-wing extremist attacks outnumbered right-wing attacks in early 2025, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Just this year:
- Minnesota Democratic State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered
- Gov. Josh Shapiro’s home was firebombed with his family inside
- An ICE officer was shot outside a Texas facility
- The CDC headquarters was attacked
Democrats spent years insisting conservatives were the threat — yet the bloodshed and intimidation are now coming overwhelmingly from the Left.
Rivers eventually addressed the attack on Facebook, but her message was anything but remorseful.
“To Savannah, I sincerely apologize but cannot sit around and allow you to continue pushing this one sided narrative,” she wrote.
Then she added:
“I understand hands being put on someone is never the answer, but throwing rocks and hiding hands is worse.”
In other words: she’s only sorry she got caught.
And according to critics, that attitude is exactly what Bragg encourages by refusing to prosecute leftist violence.
Every unpunished attack sends the same message — if you target a conservative, the Manhattan DA’s office has no interest in holding you accountable.
