Dem Candidate Breaks Down After Harsh Ejection

A Tennessee Democrat hoping to join Congress is facing a tsunami of backlash as explosive footage from 2019 makes its way back into the spotlight. The video shows Democratic congressional candidate Aftyn Behn being physically dragged out of Gov. Bill Lee’s office during a chaotic protest—complete with screaming, sobbing, and a full emotional breakdown in the Tennessee Capitol.

At the time, Behn was an activist with the group Enough Is Enough Tennessee. She and several other women staged an aggressive sit-in inside the Capitol, demanding immediate action from Gov. Lee regarding then–Republican state Rep. David Byrd, who was facing accusations of misconduct. Reportedly, when the doors to the governor’s office briefly opened on April 17, 2019, the activists attempted to force their way inside.

Security officers immediately blocked the surge. What followed was caught on camera and posted by NewsChannel 5 Nashville: Behn shrieking as officers dragged her away from the governor’s doorway.

The situation escalated quickly. Once pulled into the hallway, Behn collapsed onto her knees, crying uncontrollably while troopers cleared the area. With tensions mounting, officers warned the group that arrests would follow if they refused to leave the building.
