Federal agents swooped into a South Texas bakery, arresting eight illegal immigrants and slapping the business owners with serious charges. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out the raid at Abby’s Bakery in Los Fresnos, Texas, after receiving a tip about illegal labor practices. The crackdown exposed an underground operation where undocumented workers were reportedly employed and even housed on-site.

Owners Accused of Flouting Federal Law
Leonardo Baez and Nora Alicia Avila-Guel, the owners of Abby’s Bakery and its adjoining Dulce’s Café, now face charges of harboring and aiding illegal immigrants. According to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), both individuals admitted to knowingly hiring and providing shelter to undocumented workers—an offense that carries severe legal consequences.

Federal authorities charged the couple with “bringing in and harboring aliens” and “aiding and abetting the harboring of aliens,” crimes that could lead to hefty fines and prison time.
