Kevin O’Leary’s Bold Plan: Merge US & Canada?!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

O’Leary didn’t hold back in describing his ambitious plan. He proposed combining the natural wealth of Canada with the economic power of the United States to form a robust North American economic union. His strategy includes securing resources along the northern borders, where China and Russia pose growing threats. He suggested, “Think about the power of combining the two economies, erasing the border between Canada and the United States and putting all that resource up to the northern borders… Give a common currency, figure out taxes across the board, get everything trading both ways, create a new, almost EU like passport.”

This isn’t the first time the idea of closer integration between Canada and the U.S. has been floated, but O’Leary’s direct approach and high-profile meeting plans are stirring a new wave of interest.

O’Leary made it clear that he doesn’t want Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, involved in the process. He claimed Trudeau’s leadership has led to a failing government that Canadians no longer trust.

“I like this idea and at least half of Canadians are interested. The problem is the government’s collapsing Canada right now. Nobody wants Trudeau to negotiate this deal. I don’t want him doing it for me. So I’m going to go to Mar-a-Lago. I’ll start the narrative. The 41 million Canadians, I think most of them would trust me on this deal.”

O’Leary’s confidence in his ability to champion such a monumental agreement underscores his frustration with the current Canadian government.

Adding fuel to the fire, former President Trump recently hinted at his support for the idea. On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “No one can answer why we subsidize Canada to the tune of over $100,000,000 a year? Makes no sense! Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st State. They would save massively on taxes and military protection. I think it is a great idea. 51st State!!!”

While Trump’s comments sparked a mix of reactions, O’Leary appears to see this as an opening to bring his vision to life.

O’Leary claims that Canadians are divided, with many intrigued by the possibilities of a stronger economic partnership while others remain skeptical about losing national sovereignty. The businessman is betting on his reputation and business acumen to win over support from both nations.

“This could be the beginning of an economic union,” O’Leary said, stressing the benefits of a streamlined system for trade, taxation, and resource management.

Whether O’Leary’s plan gains traction remains to be seen, but his determination to “start the narrative” by meeting Trump signals that this discussion is far from over. Critics question the feasibility of such a merger, but O’Leary seems undeterred by the challenges, convinced that the potential benefits outweigh the obstacles.

By proposing to merge two of the most powerful countries in the Western Hemisphere, O’Leary has undoubtedly ignited a debate that will be watched closely by policymakers, citizens, and leaders on both sides of the border.
