Kari Lake, the outspoken Trump supporter and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate, is reportedly in talks to join the conservative news network Newsmax, according to Mediaite. These negotiations come on the heels of Lake’s defeat in the Arizona Senate race against Democrat Ruben Gallego, which capped a tumultuous political year for the former newscaster.
Lake first rose to prominence during her more than two-decade tenure as a news anchor for Phoenix’s Fox 10 television station. However, after stepping away from broadcasting, she reinvented herself as a key ally of former President Donald Trump. Lake became a fierce advocate for Trump’s policies and took center stage as a firebrand conservative voice.

In 2022, she ran for governor of Arizona, narrowly losing to Democrat Katie Hobbs in a contentious race. Hobbs notably refused to debate Lake, citing concerns over her rhetoric. Lake’s defeat didn’t come without controversy, as she spent months disputing the results, alleging irregularities at polling stations. Her claims led to a defamation lawsuit filed by a local election official she accused of being responsible for her loss. That case was recently settled, although details remain undisclosed.
