FEMA Prioritizes Migrants, Army Vet FIGHTS BACK!

The congressman’s remarks came on the heels of growing criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of FEMA funds. The New York Post reported that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sparked outrage when he revealed to reporters that FEMA “does not have the funds” to sustain operations through the rest of the Atlantic hurricane season, citing the diversion of resources toward the migrant crisis.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas said aboard Air Force One while accompanying President Joe Biden to hurricane-ravaged areas in North and South Carolina. He also warned, “We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what — what is imminent.”

This news comes as the conservative group America First Legal posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that over $1 billion in taxpayer dollars have been spent sheltering and caring for illegal immigrants over the past two years through a FEMA-administered program, further fueling frustrations about the federal government’s spending priorities.

Mayorkas defended the administration’s response, but the outcry from conservative circles continues to grow. When asked by a White House reporter about the public’s sentiment that the government isn’t doing enough to help those affected by the hurricane, Mayorkas responded, “I would say the following, that we are there, and we will continue to be there, and we will reach the most difficult-to-access locations. We are relentless in our efforts to ensure the safety and the security of all.”

However, many, including Mills, were not convinced by the secretary’s assurances. In an interview on Fox News, former White House press secretary Dana Perino brought up the administration’s delayed response to the disaster, highlighting that it took six days for the Biden-Harris administration to mobilize 1,000 active-duty soldiers to aid in the recovery efforts. “What do you make of that?” Perino asked.

Mills didn’t hold back. “Well, again you’re talking six days, outside the 96-hour window…In that first 96 hours it’s about rescues. You’re talking about going in helping people within the first couple of days to be able to get them out of troubled areas,” Mills responded. “Now you’re actually transitioning into what will likely be [dead body] recoveries.”

The congressman concluded with a scathing assessment of the federal response to the disaster. “I found the entire [Biden-Harris administration] response so far to not only be lacking, but irresponsible and inept.”

Mills’ remarks follow his track record of participating in major relief efforts. The congressman, who served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, has led rescue missions in Afghanistan, Haiti, and Israel to evacuate Americans caught in life-threatening situations.

With the 2024 election cycle underway and natural disasters continuing to ravage parts of the U.S., this controversy over FEMA resources and the Biden administration’s handling of crisis management will likely continue to be a focal point in conservative critiques.

As the country braces for future storms, the question remains: Will FEMA have the resources it needs to protect American lives, or will the ongoing migrant crisis continue to drain federal funds? Critics like Mills argue that the latter is the unfortunate reality under the current administration.
