With the presidential election looming, Williams voiced his frustration about stars inserting their views into politics, suggesting that many would be better off staying silent on the matter.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams made his stance clear: “I don’t do politics,” he said. “In fact, I get annoyed sometimes when I see celebrities trying to tell you [who to vote for].” While acknowledging that some celebrities have valuable opinions, he noted, “not all of them.” He added that his own thoughts align more with the idea that some of these public figures should step back and allow the public to make up their own minds without external pressure.

The Happy singer elaborated on his perspective, emphasizing that he would rather stay focused on action rather than engaging in political discourse. “I’m one of them people [who says], ‘What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you.’” Williams’ straightforward message comes in response to what he sees as a growing trend of celebrities stepping out with placards and self-righteous opinions on political matters. “When people get out there and get self-righteous and they roll up their sleeves and s—, and they are out there walking around with a placard: ‘Shut up!’”
