The event, hosted by Fox News, saw Trump take questions from voters in this key battleground state, where the 2024 election could be decided. The former president had initially agreed to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on the same day. However, the Harris-Walz campaign declined the offer, refusing to participate in any debate moderated by Fox News.

Despite the refusal, Trump’s campaign made it clear he would proceed with the town hall event. After all, Trump had already debated President Joe Biden earlier in the year on CNN, a network widely regarded as left-leaning. “Trump debated Biden on CNN earlier this year, so why should he back down from a Fox News event?” his campaign noted.
