In an exclusive interview with Herridge, the whistleblowers did not mince words. They claim that CBP’s failure to enforce the DNA collection law has directly contributed to preventable crimes, including the tragic case of a Maryland woman who was allegedly killed by a suspect who could have been apprehended earlier if his DNA had been collected during prior detentions.
Herridge asked a pointed question during her interview: “Are you alleging that Homeland Security’s failure to comply with the DNA collection law may have been a contributing factor in Rachel Morin’s death?”
“It may have been a contributing factor. Yes,” Fred Wynn responded without hesitation.
“No question in your mind?” Herridge pressed.
“None…had the subject had DNA taken the first time they were encountered, there would’ve been an instant possibility that any future criminal activity would’ve been stopped immediately, and there was definite potential for the individual to be apprehended,” Wynn explained.
This statement is a damning indictment of CBP’s alleged neglect and raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the agency’s operations under the current administration.

The leaked internal documents also reveal a culture of retaliation within CBP against those who have tried to bring these issues to light. Whistleblowers who dared to speak out have reportedly faced severe consequences, including threats of bankruptcy, forced resignations, and other retaliatory tactics. The memo paints a grim picture of a workplace where dissent is not tolerated, and those who expose wrongdoing are targeted for career-ending retribution.
“The agency’s goal is to bankrupt you, make you quit, die, kill yourselves, or basically preferably all of the above,” the whistleblowers told Herridge, describing the hostile work environment they have endured since coming forward.
The scale of the alleged non-compliance is staggering. According to the documents, nearly 70% of border encounters since 2010 have failed to comply with the DNA collection requirement. This means that potentially around 950,000 violent offenders could have remained unidentified due to the agency’s apparent neglect.
The whistleblowers argue that this failure has led to an increase in crime within the United States, as individuals who should have been identified and potentially apprehended were allowed to slip through the cracks. “We know for a fact that not every individual who crosses the border illegally into the United States goes on to commit violent acts. But given the number, even a very small percentage results in a definite increase in crime within the United States,” Wynn noted.

Responsibility for this alleged failure, according to the whistleblowers, lies squarely with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its leadership. “Ultimately, the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security is responsible. We know that he’s been notified of the non-compliance. They’ve done so with impunity,” Mike Taylor added.
Despite the grave nature of these allegations, the whistleblowers have faced severe backlash since exposing the wrongdoing. According to Senator Chuck Grassley’s office, they have suffered demotions, had their law enforcement credentials and firearms revoked, and endured hostile work environments, all seemingly aimed at silencing them and tarnishing their reputations.
The revelations brought forward by these brave whistleblowers raise serious questions about the effectiveness and integrity of the CBP under the Biden-Harris administration. If the allegations are true, the agency’s failure to enforce a critical public safety law may have had tragic consequences for American citizens. As this story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the administration will respond to these damning accusations and whether those responsible will be held accountable.
