During these discussions, Trump not only addressed the present problems but also cast his eyes toward future leadership, singling out Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as his preferred choice for U.S. Attorney General in a possible second term.
Trump’s commentary at the event in Texas, a state where immigration issues are especially critical, was both grave and critical. He expressed concerns about global criminal activities impacting the United States. Specifically, he noted, “They’re being emptied out all over the world. Venezuela’s crime is down 72 percent from last year. Venezuela is sending all their criminals into the United States.” In an interview with KDFW-TV, Trump quickly confirmed his high regard for Paxton, calling him a “very talented guy.”
