The Senate’s proposed “deal” on the border, which would have expedited the issuance of green cards until 2030, allowed an additional 5,000 undocumented immigrants to enter the nation each day, and spent billions on legal representation for asylum applicants.
During a Sunday interview on Meet The Press, Mayorkas was asked if he was responsible for the problem. “It certainly is a crisis and we don’t bear responsibility for a broken system and we’re doing a tremendous amount within that broken system, but fundamentally, fundamentally, Congress is the only one who can fix it,” he said.
