In a surprise visit on Saturday Night Live, former governor of South Carolina and Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley made fun of President Donald Trump. Haley’s presence, in a candidate forum farce including a spirited conversation between herself and a Trump persona, was warmly welcomed by the liberal New York City crowd, even though she was still well behind Trump in both state and national surveys.
During the cold open, James Austin Johnson played President Trump at a parodic CNN town hall in South Carolina. He answered questions about Taylor Swift and made fun of Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) for supporting the candidate. The lines attributed to ‘Trump’ were typical SNL slanders, mostly centered around sexist themes.

Haley addressed Trump directly in the town hall, asking him why he would not engage in a debate. After that, Haley grilled Trump, claiming he “might need a mental competency test,” teasing him about the $83 million E. Jean Carroll conviction, questioned his age, and inquired about whether he needed a loan.
Nikki Haley secured the discussion she wanted with Trump in an agreement with SNL by criticizing him for the show’s leftist viewership. She playedfully addressed her prior blunder over slavery in New Hampshire toward the end of the staged episode, using it as a chance for atonement on national television.
Haley was also assigned to read the well-known line, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
Haley’s campaign shared a video of her appearance on X Twitter along with a comment that parodied a conversation ‘Trump’ had in the cold opening regarding the movie Sixth Sense: ““I see dead people.” That’s exactly what voters will think if this race is between Trump and Biden in the fall. Had a blast tonight on SNL! Know it was past Donald’s bedtime so looking forward to the stream of unhinged tweets in the a.m.”
The whole SNL cold opening:
Nikki Haley, 52, doesn’t have an obvious route to the Republican presidential candidacy. Her persistent attacks on Trump’s age (77) and false comparisons of Joe Biden’s cognitive deterioration (81) run the risk of driving away the support she now has, particularly among older people.
