It’s evident that Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a Republican, has no ill will toward former President Donald Trump despite their disagreement following the 2020 election.
In a recent interview, the governor—who defeated Stacey Abrams with ease last year—discussed a variety of political issues. These covered the potential for a government shutdown, the problem of widespread illegal immigration, and his thoughts on Trump’s candidacy for president in 2024.

The former president, who backed Kemp in 2018, was the target of his ire. This was a result of Kemp failing to nullify the 2020 election results in his state. Furthermore, Kemp testified under subpoena in the Fulton County investigator Fani Willis’s investigation. Following this investigation, a grand jury indicted Trump along with eighteen other people as co-defendants.
“Despite all of that, despite all of his other trials and tribulations, he would still be a lot better than Biden. And the people serving in the administration would be a lot better than Joe Biden. And it has nothing to do with being a coward. It has everything to do with winning and reversing the ridiculous, obscene positions of Joe Biden and this administration that literally, in a lot of ways, are destroying our country,” Kemp stated to The Journal-Constitution in Atlanta.
He expressed his confidence in Trump’s victory in Georgia’s upcoming election in an interview with the outlet. He did not, however, hold back when challenging Trump’s claims of election fraud in the state, particularly when it came to favoring Biden.
“But I also think he stands a very good chance of losing if he continues to talk about the stolen 2020 election. If he continues, like he’s done in the past, to attack other good Republicans who don’t agree with him 100 percent of the time, there’s a good chance he can lose the election,” Kemp said.
Kemp shot Biden down hard for honoring an activist who had allegedly attacked police and died in a confrontation outside of Atlanta.
“Honoring someone who died shooting at and critically wounding a State Trooper is disgraceful and unbecoming of the Office of President,” Kemp stated to the outlet on Thursday in an exclusive statement.
“Joe Biden’s support for Defund the Police activists makes law enforcement less safe and puts more American lives in danger. In Georgia, we will always back the blue, and violent offenders who seek the destruction of our communities will feel the full weight of the law,” he noted further.
