Griffin, a Republican, has been under fire recently for her move to a more left-leaning viewpoint.
Griffin took part in a formal interview as a part of the ongoing special counsel investigation investigating Trump’s role in the Capitol hack, CNN said in a breaking story on Wednesday.
According to CNN sources, Griffin voluntarily met with prosecutors to talk about the events of January 6, 2021 as well as the alleged election fraud made by the late President Trump.
Griffin was taken aback, according to accounts, when the prosecutors asked for her opinion on Trump’s “mindset” following the election.
The involvement of former Vice President Mike Pence and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the effort to block the certification of the 2020 election was reportedly raised with Griffin.
According to CNN, Griffin revealed information from a previous conversation to the select committee on January 6, confirming that Trump accepted his loss about a week after President Joe Biden’s victory was declared.
“I popped into the Oval [Office] just to, like, give the president the headlines and see how he was doing,” Griffin previously informed the committee.

“And he was looking at the TV and he said, ‘Can you believe I lost to this effing guy?’ And then just kind of moved forward. But in that moment I think he knew he lost.”
She continued, explaining how she believes Trump suffers from “delusion” and “[surrounds] himself [with] only information that matches what he wants to hear and believe,” according to the New York Post.
“I really do think he believes it was stolen. I think many people around him do as well,” she added.
Griffin left her post within the Trump administration in December 2020, according to CNN, calling her time there “the utmost privilege.”
After she accused him of acting inappropriately toward young female staff members, Trump has noticed a change in her attitude toward him in recent weeks.
Griffin had earlier labeled Trump a “remarkable man” and a “strong leader,” as Trump recounted in a series of posts on Truth Social.
“So cool to watch her twist!” he wrote.
