The identities and links of Chinese contributors to President Joe Biden’s policy institute at the University of Pennsylvania are now known thanks to new information. Surprisingly, these supporters made donations that broke records both during and after Biden’s successful 2020 campaign.
According to Fox News, the Hunter Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement received a staggering $105 million in donations from Chinese sources, some of which had links to the communist leadership of the nation. The discoveries, which Americans for Public Trust unearthed, have drawn further attention to the President’s son and prompted questions about them.
“On the heels of learning that the Biden family received millions of dollars from foreign entities, this latest revelation raises further questions about the scope of President Biden’s ties to China,” According to Fox News Digital, Americans for Public Trust’s executive director Caitlin Sutherland.
Following the discovery that the donations made to President Biden’s think tank were nearly twice as much as initially acknowledged, the president’s connections to foreign contributors have come under further scrutiny. These gifts, some of which exceed six figures, raise concerns about possible election-related influence-peddling. Cathay Fortune, a private equity firm that collaborated with Hunter Biden and Chinese allies to purchase a Congolese cobalt mine in 2016, is one among the contributors. Along with other Americans, Hunter was a board member and co-owner of 30% of the business. It’s a serious matter that has to be looked into.
In 2020, Cathay Fortune acquired control of the Chinese firm CMOC Group Limited, formerly known as China Molybdenum, and it gave the institution $100,000. In addition, Ma Weihua, a former member of the Chinese Entrepreneur Club, gave the institution millions of dollars in 2018 and 2019. This was made possible via a meeting set up by Devon Archer, a business partner of then-Vice President Hunter Biden, and then-Vice President Biden.
During Biden’s presidential campaigns in 2019 and 2020, Chu Mang Yee, a former member of the Chinese Communist Party, gave a large $14.5 million donation to the university. Yee, who owns Hopson Education Charitable Funds Limited (HECFL) and is a successful real estate tycoon, has a long history with the Chinese Communist Party.
