Two US citizens were involved in a sophisticated network of criminal activities to smuggle military equipment from the US into Russia, according to US investigators. It is encouraging that our government was able to stop such illegal activities before they caused too much harm to the people who were affected, even though it is clear that these attempts aim to bolster President Putin’s forces in advance of any potential incursions in Ukraine and elsewhere, despite the sanctions imposed by different countries.
Five Russian citizens and two Americans were charged in a Brooklyn court on Monday, December 12. Both Vadim Yermolenko of New Jersey and Alexey Brayman of New Hampshire were prosecuted for their crimes. As those in charge admitted their misdeeds on a global scale, justice was served.

the two US-based males were taken into custody by authorities after they “unlawfully purchased and exported highly sensitive and heavily regulated electronic components” up to Russia.
In order to successfully move things overseas, Brayman and Yermolenko used their US houses to artfully conceal military equipment using false invoices and shipping labels. Additionally, they helped set up shell corporations so money could keep flowing via overseas channels.
A Russian citizen was recently detained by Estonian law enforcement on their territory. This suspect, along with three other people still at large, may spend up to three decades in prison if proved guilty in court.
