A political controversy surrounding Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has intensified following new reporting about financial contributions from individuals who previously joined him in supporting Egypt’s former Muslim Brotherhood-backed president.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, six individuals who signed a controversial 2012 statement alongside El-Sayed subsequently contributed money to his political campaigns.
The findings have revived scrutiny of the candidate’s past political activities, his relationships with prominent Egyptian-American activists, and his position on organizations associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
