A previously published social media post from a Somali politician has resurfaced online, drawing renewed attention to Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar and allegations concerning her communications with political figures in Somalia.
The post, originally shared in 2024 by Somaliland politician Ali Hassan Mohamed, alleges that Omar “leaked information” to “Somali leaders” in December 2022. The claim has circulated widely on X in recent days, prompting fresh discussion about the congresswoman’s overseas political relationships and public statements concerning Somalia.
However, the allegation remains unverified based on the information presented. The existence of the post does not establish that Omar disclosed confidential information, and no independently substantiated evidence accompanying the resurfaced claim has been identified here.
The renewed attention comes amid broader scrutiny of Omar following reports that the Department of Homeland Security raided her Washington, D.C., residence on October 12 in connection with alleged immigration fraud. The circumstances and legal significance of that reported action should be distinguished from the separate allegation contained in Mohamed’s post.
