One of Nazi Germany’s most notorious surviving landmarks has reportedly been reduced to a burned-out shell following a devastating fire in the Bavarian Alps.
The Eagle’s Nest, the mountaintop retreat built for Adolf Hitler, was engulfed in flames Friday night, leaving authorities scrambling to determine how the historic building caught fire.
Now, a 33-year-old German man is in police custody, and investigators suspect the destruction was no accident.
