Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has launched a state investigation into ActBlue, putting the Democratic fundraising powerhouse under fresh scrutiny over allegations involving fraudulent donations, foreign money, donor identities, and the platform’s internal fraud controls.
Hanaway’s office announced the investigation on September 25, saying investigators are examining potential violations of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act. The state consumer-protection law covers practices including fraud, deception, misrepresentation, and other allegedly unfair conduct.
The investigation does not establish that ActBlue committed those violations. Instead, Missouri officials are demanding records as they seek to determine whether the allegations can be substantiated.
