New York Attorney General Letitia James is still ahead in her bid for another term, but a new poll shows her advantage over Republican challenger Saritha Komatireddy has narrowed noticeably in the final weeks before Election Day.
The latest Siena Research Institute survey, released Wednesday, puts James ahead of Komatireddy by 52% to 39% among likely New York voters. That gives the Democratic incumbent a 13-point advantage.
But the latest numbers represent a five-point reduction in James’ lead compared with Siena’s August survey.
Last month, James stood at 54%, while Komatireddy registered 36%, giving the incumbent an 18-point advantage. The newest results therefore show Komatireddy gaining three points while James drops two.
