The Trump administration is moving aggressively to investigate alleged voter fraud as the 2026 midterm elections draw closer, with federal agents preparing to pursue leads across nine states beginning Tuesday.
The Department of Homeland Security is directing Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative arm of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to expand its election-related work in what federal guidance describes as a “coordinated criminal voter fraud surge initiative.” The effort is expected to run from early September through mid-October.
The nine states identified for the operation are Washington, Wisconsin, Missouri, Georgia, California, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New York and Connecticut.
