The WNBA has reportedly rejected attempts by former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White to enter the league’s 2027 draft after the two men announced that they identify as women.
The league’s response appears to bring renewed attention to one of the most contentious questions in women’s sports: whether biological males should be permitted to compete in female athletic leagues based solely on gender identity.
According to Front Office Sports, the WNBA made clear that it does not intend to entertain what it views as an effort to generate controversy at the league’s expense.
