A murder prosecution involving Jill Biden’s former husband is raising questions in Delaware—not because authorities have publicly revealed shocking evidence, but because they have revealed remarkably little.
William “Bill” Stevenson, 77, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Linda Stevenson, 64. She was found unresponsive inside the couple’s Wilmington-area home on December 28, 2025, after police responded to a reported domestic dispute. Officers attempted to save her, but she was pronounced dead.
After a weeks-long investigation, New Castle County detectives and the Delaware Department of Justice presented the case to a grand jury. Stevenson was indicted on February 2 and taken into custody. His bail, initially reported as $500,000, was later set at $2 million cash. Unable to post it, he has remained behind bars while awaiting trial.
