The documents, released by Sen. Rand Paul, have become a new source of scrutiny for conservatives who have long argued that unelected public health officials wielded extraordinary influence while President Donald Trump struggled to regain control of his own administration.
Among the names drawing the most attention is former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin, who today serves as a co-host on The View. Conservatives have criticized Griffin for years over her sharp break with Trump after leaving the White House. The newly released journal has only intensified those criticisms, with supporters of the president arguing the entries reveal she was working closely with Fauci while internal battles over pandemic messaging played out behind the scenes.
According to Fauci’s journal, Griffin encouraged him to remain highly visible throughout 2020 as the administration navigated the growing public health crisis. Fauci wrote that Griffin wanted him appearing on television “every day and every night.”
