A Wisconsin courtroom drama that has dominated headlines for more than a year finally reached its conclusion Wednesday, as former Judge Hannah Dugan received her sentence in a case that ignited a nationwide debate over immigration enforcement, judicial accountability, and the limits of judicial authority.
The case became one of the most closely watched legal battles in the country after federal prosecutors accused Dugan of interfering with the attempted arrest of an illegal immigrant inside the Milwaukee County courthouse.
