The criminal case against the man accused of murdering conservative activist Charlie Kirk is entering a pivotal new phase as prosecutors begin laying out what they say is the evidence behind one of the most shocking political killings in recent memory.
A preliminary hearing began this week in Utah, where 23-year-old Tyler Robinson faces charges in connection with the fatal shooting of Kirk outside Utah Valley University last September. The proceeding, expected to last five days, marks the first time prosecutors will publicly present much of the evidence they say ties Robinson to the crime.
The hearing has drawn national attention, not only because of Kirk’s influence among young conservatives, but because his widow, Erika Kirk, is expected to be present in the courtroom as prosecutors detail the case. Family members, supporters, and prominent conservative figures have gathered to watch the proceedings unfold.
