President Donald Trump announced Saturday night that U.S. forces carried out another round of military strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, marking the second operation in less than 24 hours. The latest action came after what the administration described as a direct Iranian attack on commercial shipping in one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
According to President Trump, Iranian forces launched multiple one-way attack drones at vessels traveling through the Strait of Hormuz on Friday evening. U.S. military assets reportedly intercepted most of the incoming drones before they reached their intended targets.
However, one drone managed to evade U.S. defenses and struck a Singapore-flagged cargo ship. While the vessel sustained damage during the attack, officials said it remained operational and continued its voyage through the vital shipping lane.
