Report: Trump Almost Fought Cassidy

A private meeting between President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans reportedly erupted into a fiery confrontation Wednesday, with one GOP senator later admitting the exchange became so intense that lawmakers feared it might turn into a physical altercation.

The closed-door gathering was intended to unite Republican senators behind Trump’s Save America Act, a major election integrity proposal that has become one of the administration’s top legislative priorities. Instead, the meeting exposed growing divisions inside the Republican conference over both foreign policy and the bill’s uncertain future in the Senate.

According to multiple reports, Trump made it clear that he intends to use his leverage aggressively. During the discussion, the president reportedly informed senators that he would refuse to sign bipartisan housing legislation unless Congress first approved the Save America Act.
