For years, cybercriminals exploited Americans on an enormous scale while online fraud continued to grow into one of the nation’s most costly criminal threats. Now, under FBI Director Kash Patel, the bureau is highlighting an aggressive new approach aimed at dismantling the criminal networks responsible for billions of dollars in losses.
During a single week of Operation Riptide, FBI field offices across the country announced a series of arrests, convictions, seizures, and infrastructure takedowns targeting cybercriminals involved in phishing, ransomware, business email compromise, financial fraud, and child exploitation.
The results showcase a broad effort designed to attack not only individual offenders but also the systems that allow organized cybercrime to flourish.
