Video from the scene appeared to show a white pickup truck colliding with the rear of a gray pickup after traffic abruptly slowed.
The strange coincidence immediately drew attention online, with many Americans expressing disbelief that another immigration-related arrest unfolded at the exact same location.
Bergquam argued that the incident highlighted a much larger problem that many Americans rarely see firsthand.
“Thank God, ICE and America First states like Florida are fighting to fix it!” he added.
According to reporting from The Gateway Pundit, the driver of the gray pickup truck was also in the country illegally.
The situation quickly evolved from a single arrest into multiple law enforcement encounters occurring simultaneously.
For Bergquam, however, the event was less surprising than many might think.
“The truth is most Americans can’t comprehend how many illegals are in our country,” Bergquam told the outlet.
He went on to describe just how unusual the situation appeared from the outside.
“I mean, literally, we’re picking up this guy. This guy’s an illegal driver, and gets rear-ended by this guy, who’s just on his way to work. Crazy.”
The Department of Homeland Security later weighed in on the incident and confirmed details surrounding the arrest.
The agency’s official social media account noted that officers were able to quickly respond when the second illegal alien became involved in the crash.
“As ICE and our Florida Highway Patrol partners were arresting one illegal alien, ANOTHER illegal alien crashed right next to them — and was swiftly apprehended,” the department stated.
Federal officials pointed to the incident as an example of why cooperation between state and federal authorities remains critical.
“Partnerships like this help us effectively REMOVE criminal illegal aliens from our communities.”
Additional details released after the arrest painted a troubling picture.
Bergquam reported that the driver of the gray pickup was allegedly operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and without insurance coverage. Even more concerning, he said the individual had previously been arrested multiple times for driving without a license.
The incident has reignited concerns among immigration enforcement advocates who argue that illegal immigration creates public safety risks extending beyond border security.
For Bergquam, the Florida operation represented a pattern he claims he has witnessed repeatedly while accompanying ICE agents.
“We just have so many illegals in this country. That’s like the third time I’ve had that, where we’re going one person, and we end up getting multiples at the same scene,” Bergquam described of his experiences with ICE.
He argued that many Americans underestimate the scale of the issue.
“You could look on a road, and it’s probably a high percentage of all the vehicles are here illegally, and most all of them are driving without a license or insurance and putting every single one of us in danger.”
While critics and supporters continue debating immigration policy in Washington, the Florida incident offered a dramatic real-world snapshot of what immigration enforcement officers encounter on a daily basis.
What began as the arrest of a single illegal alien unexpectedly became a two-for-one operation, underscoring why immigration remains one of the most contentious and closely watched issues in America today.
