Florida law enforcement officers thought they were carrying out a routine immigration arrest.
What happened next turned an already successful operation into an unexpected example of the challenges facing immigration enforcement across America.
Authorities working alongside federal immigration agents were in the middle of taking one illegal alien into custody when a second illegal alien literally crashed into the scene.
The bizarre incident unfolded during a joint operation involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Florida Highway Patrol. The arrest was being documented by journalist Ben Bergquam of Real America’s Voice, who was embedded with officers as they conducted immigration enforcement activities.
As agents moved to apprehend one individual, a traffic accident suddenly occurred just feet away from where officers were standing.
Bergquam captured the remarkable moment on video.
“As we’re picking up one illegal another illegal crashes right next to us,” he wrote while sharing footage of the operation on social media.
