Senator Cory Booker is now publicly acknowledging concerns about Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner after a wave of damaging reports involving alleged sexually explicit messages sent during his marriage began circulating in national media coverage.
The controversy surrounding Platner—an oyster farmer and military veteran—has rapidly escalated in recent days, raising questions inside Democratic political circles just weeks before Maine’s closely watched primary election.
According to reporting from The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, Platner allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to multiple women after marrying Amy Gertner in late 2023. The reports claim Gertner discovered the messages on Platner’s phone in the spring of 2025, setting off a chain of internal campaign turmoil.
Gertner then reportedly raised the issue with a senior campaign aide, who has since stepped down amid separate allegations involving sexually explicit and violent comments attributed to Platner on Reddit. That development came shortly after Platner formally launched his Senate campaign in 2025, further intensifying scrutiny around his personal conduct and online history.
