Texas Vote Just Delivered a Surprise

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Trump’s endorsement has dramatically intensified the race and transformed the contest into far more than just a Senate primary. Many conservatives see the battle as a referendum on whether the Republican Party will continue moving in a more populist, America First direction — or return to the old guard establishment leadership represented by figures like Cornyn.

The winner of the runoff will advance to face Democrat James Talarico in November, setting up what could become one of the most expensive and nationally watched Senate races in America.

Republicans are desperate to defend their narrow Senate majority, while Democrats believe they finally have an opportunity to make Texas competitive statewide for the first time in decades.

Talarico secured the Democratic nomination after defeating Rep. Jasmine Crockett during the primary campaign. Crockett has become one of Trump’s loudest critics in Congress and a rising figure among progressive activists.

But while Democrats are attempting to energize their base, Republicans believe Talarico’s own words may hand the GOP a powerful weapon in the general election.

Over the last several weeks, conservative groups and Republican operatives have been resurfacing old speeches, interviews, and social media posts from the Democrat nominee that many Texans are likely to view as deeply radical.

Among the statements drawing renewed scrutiny are Talarico’s comments on gender ideology, abortion, religion, and law enforcement.

At various points, Talarico has declared that “poverty is violence,” argued that the Bible supports abortion rights, and promoted claims about multiple biological sexes that conservatives blasted as completely detached from reality.

In one speech, Talarico insisted:

“The one thing I want us to all be aware of is that modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes.”

“In fact, there are six, which honestly, Rep. [Cole] Hefner, surprised me, too.”

Republicans immediately seized on the comments, portraying them as another example of how far left the modern Democratic Party has moved on cultural issues.

Talarico has also generated backlash over his rhetoric involving transgender issues and abortion.

“I want to acknowledge that our trans community needs abortion care too,” Talarico said during a previous appearance.

Another flashpoint emerged from a 2021 speech where Talarico declared:

“In my faith, God is non-binary.”

The remark came while Talarico criticized legislation requiring student athletes to compete in sports matching their biological sex.

For many Texas voters — especially faith-based conservatives — those comments are expected to become central issues during the general election campaign.

Republican organizations are already preparing massive ad campaigns focused on Talarico’s record and public statements.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee recently launched a deepfake-style advertisement highlighting what it called Talarico’s “extreme statements praising transgenderism, twisting Christian beliefs, and advocating for open borders.”

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee has continued hammering Democrats over cultural issues that have increasingly dominated national politics.

RNC spokesman Zach Kraft delivered one of the sharpest responses yet while speaking about Talarico’s comments.

“It has been a blessing for parents across the Lone Star State to learn they need to be on the lookout for a creepy single man in his 30s looking to speak with kids about sex changes and which of the six genders they identify as,” Kraft told The Post.

The Texas runoff ballot also includes several other high-profile races that are drawing national attention.

One particularly controversial congressional runoff erupted after a Democrat candidate suggested online that an ICE detention facility should be transformed into a prison for American supporters of Israel.

The comments ignited outrage across social media and further exposed the growing divisions inside the Democratic Party over immigration, Israel, and far-left activism.

As Election Day approaches, Republicans believe the contrast in Texas could not be clearer.

On one side stands Trump-backed populism focused on border security, traditional values, and conservative governance. On the other is a Democratic Party increasingly embracing progressive social ideology that many Texans view as wildly out of step with everyday voters.

Now, all eyes are on Texas as another major political battle unfolds with national consequences for both parties.
