Jacob Frey Under Fire After Disgusting Floyd Tribute

Memorial Day is supposed to be a time for Americans to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives defending this country. But instead of focusing on fallen heroes, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey ignited outrage across social media after posting a tribute to George Floyd — reopening one of the most painful chapters in recent American history.

For many Americans, the mayor’s message was seen as deeply inappropriate given the significance of Memorial Day. Critics blasted Frey for choosing to spotlight Floyd rather than paying tribute to U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

The controversy quickly spread online as users accused the Minneapolis mayor of once again prioritizing divisive political symbolism over national unity and respect for veterans.

The city of Minneapolis became the epicenter of nationwide unrest during the summer of 2020 following Floyd’s death while in police custody. Graphic footage circulated around the world showing former officer Derek Chauvin restraining Floyd as Floyd repeatedly said, “I can’t breathe.”
