For years, neighbors driving through Buchanan Street in Escondido recognized one property instantly. American flags waved from nearly every corner. Trump banners stretched across the yard. Patriotic signs covered the fence line. The home belonged to 69-year-old Army veteran Kerry Sheron, a man who proudly transformed his residence into what locals simply called “The Trump House.”

Now that same property sits at the center of a horrifying act of violence that has left one veteran fighting for his life while his devastated wife prepares for the worst.
On Wednesday afternoon, what had become a political landmark in Southern California suddenly turned into an active crime scene after authorities say Sheron was brutally attacked outside his home in broad daylight.
According to police, officers with the Escondido Police Department rushed to the area shortly after 2 p.m. following reports of a violent assault in progress. When first responders arrived, they discovered Sheron lying in the street suffering catastrophic injuries.
Witnesses described a horrifying scene.
