The FBI director also highlighted the extradition of Jose Enrique Martinez Flores, whom Patel described as one of the highest-ranking Tren de Aragua operatives ever brought into American custody.
“FBI Houston also extradited Jose Enrique Martinez Flores – the highest-ranking member of Tren de Aragua ever brought to justice,” Patel said.
The arrests come as Americans grow increasingly alarmed over violent migrant gangs spreading into major cities and suburban communities alike. Republicans have repeatedly warned that weak border enforcement allowed criminal organizations to establish operations deep inside the country.
Patel also revealed that the FBI has ramped up investigations tied to Chinese Communist Party influence campaigns operating on U.S. soil. In one shocking case, authorities charged Eileen Wang, the mayor of Arcadia, California, with allegedly acting as an illegal foreign agent for Communist China.
“She worked to promote pro-PRC propaganda and influence activities in our country,” Patel said.
The bureau also announced progress in several other high-profile criminal investigations stretching across multiple states.
In San Diego, a Filipino national admitted involvement in a massive $48 million publishing scam that allegedly preyed on hundreds of victims nationwide, including many senior citizens who were tricked out of their savings.
Meanwhile, investigators in Baltimore filed criminal charges tied to the catastrophic 2024 collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge after a massive cargo ship struck the structure, killing six construction workers in one of the deadliest infrastructure disasters in recent memory.
“FBI Baltimore announced criminal charges against two foreign operators and the technical superintendent of the 900-foot ship that crashed into the Key Bridge in 2024, causing it to collapse and killing six construction workers,” Patel said.
The FBI also announced arrests in a chilling interstate kidnapping case after two suspects allegedly abducted a woman, transported her across state lines, and demanded ransom money for her release.
Child exploitation cases were another major focus of Patel’s remarks, as the bureau highlighted several lengthy prison sentences secured against sexual predators targeting minors online.
A former U.S. Navy officer pleaded guilty after investigators uncovered evidence that he attempted to lure a minor into sexual activity while possessing a large collection of child sexual abuse material.
“Thanks to FBI Seattle, a defendant was sentenced to 25 years for soliciting sex online by responding to babysitting ads posted by minors,” Patel continued.
Patel also pointed to a disturbing case involving multiple young victims spread across several states.
“And thanks to FBI Albany’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, a Pennsylvania man got an 80-year sentence for abusing and exploiting multiple child victims across several states, including two toddlers,” he said.
Despite the bureau’s recent successes, Patel has become the target of escalating media attacks from left-wing outlets seeking to portray his leadership as chaotic or unstable.
Last month, The Atlantic published allegations claiming Patel engaged in excessive alcohol use, fueling rumors that Trump was considering replacing him. The White House swiftly crushed the speculation.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Patel and praised the administration’s crime-fighting record.
“Crime across the country has plummeted to the lowest level in more than 100 years. Director Patel remains a critical player on the administration’s law and order team,” Leavitt said.
Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino also blasted the media narrative, calling the allegations against Patel “totally false” while suggesting powerful interests are panicking over what may soon be exposed.
“The hit on Kash Patel, the bullsh-t hit by The Atlantic, which I addressed yesterday, is gonna make a lot more sense in the coming weeks and months,” Bongino explained. “I can’t give you a definitive timeline. I’m on the outside now. However, I can tell you what I know is going on because I started a lot of it.”
“Look me in the eye, and I’m telling you, I promise this thing is gonna make a whole lot of sense. You’re gonna find out, as they say in the South, right quick about why they need him out, like, now. It’s got nothing to do with that story being even remotely true. Remember this. Bookmark it.”
