Speaking during an appearance on comedian Howie Mandel’s podcast, Thornton delivered a rare moment of restraint from a Hollywood veteran who has spent decades in the industry.
Thornton, now 70 and an Oscar-winning performer, didn’t lean into political talking points or cultural arguments. Instead, he took a step back entirely.
“I don’t know anything about politics,” Thornton said flat out.
“I have no idea. And the stuff that I do believe, I don’t want to force it down somebody else’s throat because I’m not an expert on that,” he said.
