After their bruising 2024 defeat, Democrats are still searching for a political identity that can reconnect them with working-class Americans, suburban families, and independent voters. But instead of moderating, many on the Left appear ready to double down on the same activist agenda that voters rejected at the ballot box. And at the center of that movement stands progressive firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The New York congresswoman, better known as AOC, has quickly become one of the Democratic Party’s loudest national voices heading into the 2028 presidential conversation. Progressive activists adore her. Online donors fuel her campaigns with millions of dollars. Young left-wing voters pack arenas to hear her speak. But for Republicans, her rise may represent the clearest possible contrast heading into the next election cycle.
That’s because AOC is not hiding what she believes.
For years, she has openly demanded the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Not reform. Not oversight changes. Elimination.
While immigration agents under President Donald Trump have ramped up operations targeting violent gang members, cartel-linked traffickers, and criminal illegal aliens, AOC has continued attacking the agency itself as fundamentally illegitimate.
