Leavitt Drops FACT CHECK on Biden

The debate over media access inside the White House is heating up again, but this time the spotlight is on a glaring contrast that many in the press can no longer ignore. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is pushing back hard against criticism, arguing that the current administration has expanded access, not restricted it, while also exposing what she says was years of silence under former President Joe Biden.

Speaking at a high-profile media gathering hosted by Mike Allen, Leavitt made the case that the Trump administration is opening doors to more journalists rather than shutting them. Her comments come as critics attempt to frame recent changes to the White House press pool as limiting access. Leavitt rejected that narrative outright.

“I don’t view them as restrictions. We view them as opening access to more outlets, more voices, more news, journalists and outlets,” she said, emphasizing that the traditional system gave disproportionate influence to a small circle of legacy media organizations.

At the center of the dispute is the exclusive 13-person press pool that travels with and covers the president. For years, a handful of major outlets held near-permanent seats, shaping the narrative seen by millions. Leavitt questioned why that arrangement should continue in today’s evolving media landscape.
