Mayor ARRESTED… What They Found Is Worse

A stunning election scandal has erupted out of Alabama, where a former small-town mayor and a political ally are now facing serious felony charges tied to what authorities describe as an absentee ballot scheme that ultimately invalidated an entire election.

The case centers on the August 2025 municipal race in Ft. Deposit, a quiet community in Lowndes County. What initially appeared to be a routine local election has now spiraled into a criminal investigation with major implications for election integrity.

According to the office of Steve Marshall, former mayor Jacqulyn Boone, 51, and city council hopeful Steven Thigpen, 49, were both taken into custody and charged with unlawful use of absentee ballots. The offense is classified as a Class C felony under Alabama law.

Investigators say the charges stem from alleged abuse and mishandling of absentee ballots during the contested election. While officials have not yet disclosed the full scope of the alleged scheme, the accusations were serious enough to trigger a complete reversal of the election results.
