61-Year-Old Woman Targeted for Backing Donald Trump

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

The fatal shooting occurred on the morning of March 22, when police were dispatched to the 300 block of West Washington Avenue following reports of an unresponsive individual inside a parking structure. When officers arrived, they discovered Jones, who had just parked before heading into work at a nearby hotel. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court records reveal a troubling history leading up to the attack. Wallace had been terminated from the hotel in April of the previous year. Following that dismissal, authorities say Wallace returned to the property multiple times, creating disturbances and issuing threats. The situation became serious enough that hotel management sought and obtained a temporary restraining order.

Investigators say Wallace blamed Jones for the job loss and allegedly engaged in acts of retaliation. These reportedly included vandalizing Jones’ Chevrolet Silverado by slashing its tires. The criminal complaint further states that Wallace “expressed animosity towards CAJ [Christine A. Jones] for being a Trump supporter,” highlighting what prosecutors suggest may have been a political motive behind the violence.

Law enforcement moved quickly following the shooting. Wallace was taken into custody on March 23, just one day after the incident. During the arrest, officers recovered a handgun along with a blue hooded sweatshirt that matched surveillance footage from the scene. Ballistics testing later confirmed that the weapon was used in the killing.

Authorities also noted that Wallace had a prior felony conviction from 2019 for resisting an officer, which legally barred possession of a firearm—raising further questions about how the weapon was obtained.

The suspect made an initial court appearance in Dane County, where Court Commissioner Jason Hanson set bail at $2 million. Prosecutors have charged Wallace with first-degree intentional homicide as well as unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled as the case moves forward.

In response to the tragedy, the Republican Party of Dane County released a statement condemning the violence and urging unity within the community:

“No grievance, no workplace conflict, no personal resentment justifies violence. We reject any attempts to politicize this tragedy, but we cannot ignore the pain of losing a Dane County woman’s life… Dane County deserves better. Our neighbors deserve better. We must all do better. Be better humans. Choose decency. Reject violence.”

Despite the details outlined in the criminal complaint, questions are being raised about the lack of widespread national media coverage surrounding the alleged political motivation behind the crime. Critics argue that similar incidents involving different political dynamics often receive wall-to-wall attention.

The case continues to develop as investigators and prosecutors prepare for the next phase of legal proceedings. Meanwhile, a Wisconsin community is left grieving the loss of a woman described by those who knew her as hardworking and dedicated—her life cut short in a senseless act of violence that has sparked broader conversations about political hostility in America.
