An elderly U.S. Air Force veteran is now fighting for his life after a violent incident inside the New York City subway system, and federal officials say the suspect responsible had already been deported multiple times.
The case has ignited fierce criticism of New York’s sanctuary policies, particularly after new details emerged about the suspect’s immigration and criminal history.
Richard Williams, 83, once wore the uniform of the United States Air Force and served his country with honor. Last Sunday, he was simply waiting for a subway train on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. What should have been a routine trip turned into a nightmare that has left his family devastated.
Williams is now brain dead and on life support after being shoved onto the subway tracks in what authorities say was an unprovoked attack.
