Applebee’s, the neighborhood grill that once symbolized affordable nights out and family celebrations, is closing locations in Indiana, New York, and Missouri. The pattern is becoming harder to dismiss as coincidence.

A 45-Year Fixture in American Communities

Applebee’s opened its first location in 1980 in Decatur, Georgia. For decades, it built its brand on accessibility and familiarity. It was where Little League teams gathered after games. It was where families marked birthdays and anniversaries without breaking the bank.
