Schumer Breaks Ranks: “I’m With Trump on This!”

Senate Democrats are once again drawing fierce backlash after their highly visible refusal to stand during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address when he called for protecting American citizens from illegal aliens. The silent protest, which played out on national television, quickly became a flashpoint — and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wasted no time defending it.

Appearing on CNN the morning after the address, Schumer attempted to justify Democrats’ actions by leveling explosive accusations against federal immigration authorities. Rather than backing law enforcement, the New York Democrat astonishingly suggested that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were behaving unlawfully and harming American citizens — claims that sharply contradict official policy and documented enforcement priorities.

“We agree we need to protect Americans. He’s not. By his reckless ICE agency in Minnesota two Americans were killed. Americans are being pulled out of their cars and beaten. Americans houses, the doors are being knocked down, you know, without a warrant,” Schumer claimed.

He continued his attack on the agency, arguing that ICE operates outside acceptable law enforcement norms.
