A Florida woman is now recovering after a horrifying late-night assault on a Martin County shoreline that authorities are calling a “violent ambush.”
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said the victim was walking alone along Tiger Shores Beach around 11 p.m. Thursday when the attack unfolded without warning.
Her husband quickly contacted 911 after learning of the incident from the victim’s sister, who had been on the phone with her at the time.
“Her sister said it sounded like she was fighting with someone. And then the phone went dead,” the husband told dispatchers. “They’ve been calling her for the past five minutes. She’s not responding.”
The husband said he rushed to the last location he knew his wife had been, near Stuart Beach, desperate to find her.
