The tragic school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, has taken on a new layer of horror as investigators trace the online activity of the alleged shooter. Three years ago, Matt Walsh stumbled across a bizarre Reddit post by a user who now appears to be the same man responsible for Tuesday’s massacre.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, described as a deeply mentally disturbed individual who believed himself to be a woman. According to CBC, Van Rootselaar killed eight people before taking his own life.
Online investigators quickly connected Van Rootselaar to a Reddit account, “jesseboy347,” reportedly promoted by his late mother, Jennifer Strang. Police suspect Van Rootselaar murdered Strang at the family home just before the school attack.
