Protesters Push Back And Take Control In Key Cities
The National Council of Resistance of Iran says events on the ground have reached a turning point in several areas.
In two western cities, Abdanan and Malekshahi, protesters reportedly forced security forces to retreat altogether.
Ali Safavi, a member of the opposition group, described the moment in stark terms during an interview with Fox News Digital.
“Today there was a major development in two cities in Western Iran that have been effectively taken over and people are actually celebrating in the streets,” Safavi said.
The chants echoing through the streets left no ambiguity.
“They were chanting, ‘Death to Khamenei!’” Safavi added.
According to Safavi, something fundamental has shifted.
“Despite everything the regime has done, the fear factor seems to have shifted because people have made the suppressive forces flee,” he said.
That shift appears to be rattling Tehran.
Regime Crosses New Lines With Hospital Raids
As protests spread, Iran’s leadership responded with escalating desperation.
Security forces stormed Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ilam, firing tear gas inside the facility while hunting wounded protesters who had been transferred from nearby towns.
The move sparked outrage from international observers.
Amnesty International condemned the raid outright.
“The Iranian security forces’ attack on a hospital in Ilam, where injured protesters are seeking medical care or shelter, violates international law,” Amnesty stated.
Similar incidents were reported in Tehran, where security forces entered Sina Hospital and detained injured demonstrators.
In Malekshahi, the violence reached an even darker level.
Security forces opened fire on unarmed protesters near the entrance of a military base, killing multiple demonstrators and wounding dozens more.
Hospitals were overwhelmed. Imam Khomeini Hospital issued urgent pleas for blood donations as casualties poured in.
Trump Issues Warning As World Watches Closely
President Trump responded to the unfolding crisis with a blunt warning posted to Truth Social.
He made clear the United States is watching and prepared to act.
“If Iran shots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue,” Trump wrote.
“We are locked and loaded and ready to go,” he added.
Senator Lindsey Graham echoed that message, posting on X that Iranian leaders should understand they are acting “at their own peril.”
Economic Collapse Sparks A National Reckoning
The protests were sparked by Iran’s collapsing economy, with inflation near 40 percent and the national currency in freefall.
But what began as labor strikes and merchant demonstrations quickly transformed into something far more dangerous for the regime.
