Clooney Thought He Was Safe… Then Trump Spoke

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

The actor didn’t stop there. Clooney also took a personal swipe at Trump, claiming the President used to be “a big goofball” before entering politics, suggesting that Trump somehow changed for the worse once he began challenging Washington’s political class.

That was more than enough to catch Trump’s attention.

Trump Reminds Clooney Why He Fled to France

President Trump fired back with a blistering Truth Social post on New Year’s Eve, making it clear that Clooney’s comments would not go unanswered.

“Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration, much like we had under Sleepy Joe Biden,” Trump wrote.

Trump then pivoted to Clooney’s disastrous record as a Democratic kingmaker, reminding Americans just how wrong the actor has been at every major political turning point.

In June of 2024, Clooney headlined a high-dollar fundraiser that raked in more than $30 million for Joe Biden. Just three weeks later, Clooney abruptly turned on the very candidate he had been promoting, effectively knifing Biden in the back when the political winds shifted.

Clooney went on to publish a New York Times op-ed demanding that Biden drop out of the race entirely—after previously insisting Biden was fit to serve. Reports later revealed that Biden was so mentally diminished at that fundraiser that he didn’t even recognize Clooney when they spoke.

Trump didn’t miss the irony.

“Remember when Clooney, after the now infamous debate, dumped Joe during a fundraiser, only to go onto the side of another stellar candidate, Jamala(K!), who is now fighting it out with the worst governor in the Country, including Tim Waltz, Gavin Newscum, for who is going to lead the Democrats to their future defeat,” Trump continued.

Then came the knockout punch.

Trump took aim not just at Clooney’s politics, but at his Hollywood résumé, arguing that Clooney’s relevance comes more from political grandstanding than actual box office success.

“Clooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies. He wasn’t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics.”

Clooney’s Weak Response Shows Trump Hit a Nerve

Clooney attempted to respond by borrowing Trump’s own famous campaign slogan, but the effort fell flat.

“I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November,” Clooney told reporters.

The actor is now pinning his hopes on Democrats retaking Congress in the midterm elections. But Clooney’s political judgment has been consistently wrong. He backed Biden until the collapse became impossible to ignore, jumped ship to Kamala Harris, and then watched Democrats suffer a crushing defeat in November.

Clooney raised millions for a candidate he knew was struggling, then tried to recast himself as a hero for speaking out only after the damage was done.

Today, Clooney is living in France, citing privacy concerns and claiming his family is happiest there. He has said the country’s strict privacy laws keep photographers away from his children and allow them to live quietly on their farmhouse.

That’s his choice—but it also undercuts his credibility.

It’s hard to lecture Americans about leadership, media accountability, and the future of the country while living overseas and attacking the President from afar.

What makes the feud even more striking is that Trump and Clooney were once on friendly terms. Trump previously helped Clooney secure an appointment with a back surgeon, and the two would occasionally run into each other in New York.

Clooney ultimately chose the well-worn Hollywood path: endless outrage, zero solutions, and reflexive hatred for anything Trump does.

Trump, as usual, responded by reminding him—and the rest of Hollywood—why that strategy keeps failing.
