It’s Over: House Votes to BAN!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

The driving force behind the bill was Marjorie Taylor Greene, who pressed leadership to bring the measure to the floor. Her push reportedly came after she warned she would withhold support from a major defense policy bill unless this legislation received a vote, forcing House leaders to act.

Greene argued that the bill codifies a core Trump campaign promise and gives congressional backing to his executive actions on the issue. Speaking on the House floor, she made an emotional appeal that drew national attention.

“Most Americans agree that kids just need to grow up before they do anything radical, like a mastectomy on a 15-year-old girl,” she said on Wednesday, gesturing toward a visual display meant to underscore her argument.

Although Greene has recently broken with Trump on several high-profile matters and announced plans to leave Congress before her term expires, she remained firm on this issue. She framed the legislation as a response to what she called a cultural and medical experiment imposed on children without their full understanding or consent.

“If a child believes they’re a unicorn, do adults take their word for it as well?” Greene said, adding that in electing Trump in 2024, the American people voted to end gender transition treatments.

Other Republicans echoed that message. Barry Moore accused Democrats of misleading families by portraying these procedures as medically necessary.

“It is not lifesaving care,” he said. “It is child abuse.”

Democrats fired back, arguing the bill replaces medical judgment with political ideology and targets a small, vulnerable population. They warned that threatening parents and physicians with prison time would trample family autonomy and invite federal intrusion into deeply personal decisions.

“Does anyone believe that the Freedom Caucus and President Trump love America’s children more than their parents do?” asked Jamie Raskin during floor debate.

Mark Takano attempted to downplay the scenarios highlighted by supporters, insisting that the types of surgeries referenced are exceedingly rare. He argued that the real impact of the bill would be far broader.

What the legislation would actually do, Takano said, is ban “safe and effective medications for an entire group of people.” He added that the proposal would not improve child safety but would “interfere with parental choice and open private medical data up to investigation.”

The vote also comes as House Republicans prepare to advance a second bill later this week, also backed by Greene, that would block Medicaid from covering gender-related medical care for minors. Together, the measures signal a broader push to lock Trump-era policies into federal law.

Opponents also heard from Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender lawmaker in Congress. Ahead of the vote, she accused Republicans of being fixated on transgender issues while ignoring broader health care concerns.

“They think more about trans people than trans people think about trans people,” McBride told reporters outside the Capitol. “They are consumed with this and they are extreme on it.”

While the vote was largely partisan, a small number of lawmakers broke ranks. Democrats Henry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, and Don Davis supported the bill, while Republicans Gabe Evans, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Lawler, and Mike Kennedy voted against it.

As the legislation heads toward an uncertain future in the Senate, Wednesday’s vote made one thing clear: the battle over gender policy, parental rights, and the role of the federal government is far from over—and Republicans are signaling they intend to keep the issue front and center heading into the next election cycle.

  1. Either party that votes against protecting children should be voted out when they come up for re-election! Anybody that would vote to harm children while they’re still children needs to go to jail for the rest of their life!
People that agree to hurt children while their children instead of letting them become a mature adult is obviously sick in the head and is a person that should be sent to an isolated island. No Exceptions!
